Standard London Underground Track

Surrey Quays track.jpg (39257 bytes)

Standard London Underground track as seen at Surrey Quays (East London Line). The running rails are the standard LU bullhead rail which, although replaced in most areas by flat bottomed rail on the rest of railways in the UK, remains common around the Underground.   The current rails can be seen as the two larger rails in the set of four.  The negative rail is in the centre and the positive is outside the running rails.

Another close-up picture of bullhead rail is available here.
